Since established in Wirksworth we have worked with numerous clients throughout the Derbyshire Dales area servicing all sizes of domestic gardens and outdoor areas.

Gardening Services

We offer the full range of essential gardening services at affordable prices so that you can aesthetically and practically enjoy and use your garden and outside spaces to their full potential all year round. 

Design & Landscaping
We can help transform and bring to life your garden space with creative and practical design and landscaping ideas whether you opt for a formal boundary type structure or prefer more natural and flowing environments.

 
Garden Maintenance
A popular ongoing service with clients who wish to regularly keep on top of their garden in terms of order and tidiness. We ensure plants, borders, edges and outdoor structures are well maintained which includes: weeding; clearing and mowing. Typically, we provide a few hours every two weeks in peak seasons.
Hedge Cutting & Pruning
Our hedge cutting service provides high quality results in shaping, trimming, pruning and tidying all types of hedges, shrubs and trees.
Fencing & Sheds
We can either repair or remove existing damaged fencing or build new fencing (either panelled or featherboard). Similarly we renovate garden sheds and summer houses as well as build new kit structures as required. We also offer painting services for fencing as well as all wooden outdoor structures.
Jet Washing
An economical and efficient service for cleaning away existing and unsightly substrates. Typically we treat concrete and brick driveways, car park decks, patios, paths and wooden/composite decked areas bringing the finished look back to 'near new'.

Planting & Borders
We maintain and create planted border areas and enrich existing soil beds, adding new top soil or alternatively introducing weed suppressant materials such as membrane, bark or decorative aggregate. We work with clients to source and select plants and shrubs for planting.

Garden Maintenance

We supply and install quality, durable decking and high quality sleepers to suit your requirements. Our bespoke decking and sleeper bed constructions are offered in all types: big or small; raised or sunken.

Patios & Paths
Basic offering that includes levelling and compacting a sub-base, laying paving slabs on concrete beds for either patio and paved areas allowing for water run off and finished with either concrete or coloured resin grouting. Slab patios and paths are individually designed to blend with the age and style of each property and garden.

Jet Washing

Garden Clearance
An essential 'tidy up' garden only service that removes garden waste and clutter. This service includes the removal of any unwanted debris or overgrown greenery in your outdoor areas but does not include the removal of household waste.

Case Studies

Case Study One - Front garden transformation - Two weeks duration

Re-designing an overcrowded garden, work included:

  • Removal of large tree and stump that blocked light & views to the front of house 

  • Pruning of established trees & shrubs

  • Creation of new patio, paved and gravelled areas (both to front & side of house) 

  • Established natural stone wall either side of new paved path leading to front door

  • Levelled & laid new turf lawned area

  • Created cotsworld stone beds including weed suppressant & planting throughout

  • Built new corner raised border with timber sleeper beds, painted in black & filled with top soil & planted with a variety of spring bulbs

  • Jet washed & repainted double width tarmac driveway.

Case Study Two - Back garden transformation - One week duration

Smartening a 'tired' garden, work included:
 

  • Cleared existing fencing & ivy area, replaced with featherboard style fencing

  • Jet washed, weeded & applied new grouting to existing patio & path areas

  • Cleared & edged lawn 

  • Cleared, levelled & laid new patio

  • Raised border area - trimmed, pruned & cleared entire terraced beds - created authentic retaining wall in local stone

  • Added blue slate aggregate throughout the bedded areas

  • Jet washed, filled gaps & cracks, cleared & cleaned tarmac driveway 

  • Sanded down, primed & applied two coats of gloss paint to garage doors & external step balustrade/handrail.

Case Study Three - Front garden & driveway transformation - Three weeks duration

Terracing a steep impractical garden, work included:
 

  • Cleared all trees, shrubs & undergrowth to create blank canvas

  • ​Shifted soil to create new terraced levels

  • Levelled, positioned & secured circa quantity 120 x 3m oak sleepers to create multi-level secure terraced wall retainers on both sides of driveway

  • Pre drilled for hex bolts & filled with high grade wood filler, sanded to hide unsightly holes & bolt heads

  • Treated sleepers with two coats of high quality Osmo UV protection oil to make sleepers 'pop' as well as preserve against mould & sunlight degradation (slows down oak 'greying' effect!)

  • Enriched soil beds & planted alternate rows of buxus hedge plants & lavender borders

  • Main beds planted with variety of spring bulbs throughout

  • Pruned, tidied and shaped existing trees

  • Rendered & painted front wall, fitted stylish grey coping stones, heightened & levelled both driveway pillars with new brick course and topped with matching grey pillar caps

  • Tidied, filled holes/cracks & painted tarmac driveway with high quality black restorer

  • Painted all panel fencing in two coats of Tudor Black protector

  • Created new top level landing pad gravel parking area.

Case Study Four - Full garden transformation - Two weeks duration

Bringing an impractical and uninspiring area to life, work included:

  • Cleared all trees, shrubs & undergrowth to create blank canvas

  • Fitted new featherboard style rear fence panels to align and match with existing side fencing and fixed in place with practical 'slider' concrete posts 

  • Painted new and existing rear and side fence panels with two coats of Ronseal Forest Green wood preserver

  • Removed lower lawn/moss area and replaced with extended lower patio to best match existing area

  • Created full width sleeper timber steps ‘risers’ leading up to lawned area. Laid natural riven slabs as step ‘treads’ to match and align to lower patio

  • Laid three meter square natural riven patio

  • Created three major full length one meter deep borders surrounding entire lawned area with introduction of new symmetrical curved corners

  • Recommended, sourced and planted several suitable trees, shrubs and plants throughout new border areas. Filled, levelled and enriched all borders and dug in compost around new plants

  • Mowed and scarified lawn (two passes) and cleared moss and treated with fertiliser and feed. (NB - to return later to spread grass seed or turf once feed has had the opportunity to establish itself)

  • Jet washed all patio areas (existing and new), side paths & outdoor furniture - taking back to ‘near new’ look 

  • Introduced new Cotswold decorative aggregate borders surrounding new steps and existing lower patio, side passage and area under the rear patio doors to house

  • And so much more...including front garden and driveway​.

Case Study Five - Shed base, new shed & decking

Garden wide project where new shed base, wall, shed and decking formed just a small part of this job. 

Specific shed related work included:

  • Removed and dug down level removing all previous old unstable base and concrete, blockwork and other waste

  • Prepared shed base area with Type 1 sub-base, whacked down to fully compact and then levelled

  • Cleaned up & re-laid surrounding 900 x 600 heavy slabs throughout patio area, levelled and aligned slabs with appropriate heights & run-offs

  • Made up and installed levelled wooden shutter board frame for concrete shed base, laid and levelled thick concrete bed for incoming new shed

  • Ensured armoured cable ran through the base to appropriate outlet point

  • Allowed for limestone aggregate borders surrounding shed base for suitable drainage

  • Built new limestone retainer wall with York stone coping stones to match 

  • Fully installed new shed delivered to site including all door furniture, glazing and felt roofing

  • Refitted side fencing and gate to fit to existing post and new shed to finish.

Who are we?
Adam Pic 1.png
Adam Austin
Adam considered structuring a business back in 2020 following a change of career away from previous senior sales & marketing roles for large corporations. During this time, Adam has always had a very keen interest in and spent extensive personal time on horticulture and landscaping gardening. He has years of experience, undertaking significant garden projects on both his own garden and for friends and family. With recent world events due to COVID-19, Adam took a decision to change his career ambitions and finally decided to setup a gardening services business and follow his lifelong passion. He is also in the process of formalising his credentials with a course from the Garden Design Academy.

Jack Austin
A passion for outdoor spaces, horticulture and agriculture. More recently Jack worked on a small holding in Cornwall learning how to lay hedges whilst working at the Eden project and rotating through the different gardening teams. Following this he lived at Monkton Wyld Court, Dorset and worked primarily as the farm hand for the dairy farm. The majority of his time was spent on maintaining the land associated with grazing, fixing fences, installing rabbit proofing on fencing, uncomplicated pruning of trees and hand scything fields for hay.
